John Kawasoe to Lead the Timberwolves Golf Program
PENDLETON, Ore. - The BMCC Athletics Department is proud to announce the hiring of John Kawasoe as the new Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Golf programs. A highly decorated veteran of the Pacific Northwest golfing community, Kawasoe brings over 25 years of professional expertise and a championship pedigree to the teams.
Kawasoe has been a card carrying member of the PGA since 1998, establishing himself as one of the premier instructors and leaders in the region. His professional journey includes tenures at some of the Northwest's most prestigious courses, including Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, Wine Valley Golf Club, and Astoria Golf & Country Club.
"We are incredibly fortunate to bring a professional of John’s caliber into our athletic family," said athletic director Brad Baker. "His resume speaks for itself, but it is his passion for teaching and his deep roots in Oregon golf that make him the perfect fit to lead our student-athletes."

A Legacy of Excellence
Kawasoe’s career is highlighted by a staggering list of honors from the PGA, recognizing both his skill as a player and his leadership in the industry. Most notably, he was named the 2018 Oregon PGA Golf Professional of the Year and served as the Hudson Cup Captain in 2019.
His commitment to the growth of the game is further evidenced by his extensive service on the Oregon PGA Board of Directors, where he served as Chapter President (2017-2018), Vice President, and Secretary.

Kawasoe’s arrival signals a new era for the golf program, focusing on technical development, course management, and the professional growth of every golfer on the roster. Kawasoe will take the helm of a program that saw 5th place finishes at the NWAC championships on the men's side with top 15 finishes for Alex Gailey and Karsen LeMoyne and a top 15 finish for Aleaha Miller.
