Wolves Keep Rolling Atop East Division

PENDLETON, Ore. – The Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves (10-6, 3-0 NWAC) extended their winning streak to nine games on Wednesday night, holding off a late surge from the Wenatchee Valley College Knights (4-14, 0-3 NWAC) for a 73-71 victory. In a contest that featured high-level shooting from both sides, the Timberwolves utilized a strong second half performance to remain undefeated in conference play.
Key Performers
Demontay Kyle led the way for Blue Mountain, delivering an efficient 22 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the floor. Joining him in double figures were Dionte Hill (15 points), Ezra Carter (12 points), and Jacob Campbell (11 points). Hill also contributed significantly on the glass and on defense, tallying five rebounds and three steals.
For the Knights, Nathan Stephenson put on a shooting clinic, racking up a game high 21 points while going 8 of 9 from beyond the arc. Henry Hughes added 16 points off the bench, and Taegen Mullin chipped in 13 points and six rebounds in the loss.
Game Breakdown
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with Wenatchee Valley taking a 34-30 lead into the locker room. The Knights found success from deep early, shooting 45.5% from three-point range in the opening period.
Blue Mountain found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring the Knights 43-37. The Timberwolves' offense clicked into high gear, shooting 55.6% from the field in the final 20 minutes. While Wenatchee Valley dominated the paint (26-24) and points off turnovers (20-17), Blue Mountain’s efficient shooting and slight edge in second-chance points (6-5) proved to be the difference.

The Timberwolves look to keep their momentum alive as they continue NWAC East region play on Saturday as they take on Spokane. They currently sit at the top of the East standings with a perfect 3-0 conference record.
