Blake West Steps Down as Men's Rodeo Coach
PENDLETON, Ore. - After three years at the helm, Blake West has stepped down as the head men's rodeo coach. Blake joined the Timberwolves staff in October of 2020 and since then has taken the Wolves to three College National Finals Rodeo's with two national finals runners up in 2022 with Dylan Orr & Wyatt Van Koll in team roping and helping the women's rodeo team gain a nationals runner up in Kennedy Buckner in the breakaway in 2023. Blake steps away from the coaching role to pursue more time with his family and focus on his business.
"We want to thank Blake for all his years at BMCC as the head coach and all of the work he has put into the rodeo program" said assistant athletic director Jordan Hillmick. "Black was a huge part in getting the new practice arena set up and ready for ours teams to use. Thank you Blake!"
Blake plans to still be involved in the BMCC rodeo program but as an assistant coach that works with the rough stock riders. Thank you for all you have done Blake!
A national search will begin right away for a new head coach to take over the Timberwolves men's rodeo program. The 2023-24 season begins in late September, with the first competition beginning in Ontario, OR in late October.
