Alegria Steps Down as BMCC Men's Soccer Coach

PENDLETON, Ore. - After three and a half seasons, Oscar Alegria has stepped down as the head men's soccer coach at Blue Mountain Community College. Oscar stepped into lead the team as co-head coach in the spring of 2021 after the complicated COVID-19 delayed season where he helped lead the men's soccer team to a first place finish in the NWAC east division with a record of 6-1-3. Following the spring 2021 season, he took over as full time head coach for the fall 2021 season where BMCC finished runner-up with a record of 7-4-1 and would host their first playoff game in program history. Carrying that momentum into his second full season in charge, Alegria and the Timberwolves would go on to finish third in the NWAC east division with a record of 5-3-4 and compete in their second playoff game in program history and in back to back seasons. This last season saw hurdles and many close games as the Wolves would go on to finish with a record of 3-8-1 and miss the playoffs for the first time under Oscar's lead. Coach Alegria finishes his coaching career with a career record of 21-16-9 with a 55.435% winning percentage.

"We are extremely thankful for Oscar's time with BMCC and his leadership with our men's soccer team" said assistant athletic director Jordan Hillmick. "Working with Oscar as a fellow coach and friend, I am excited for his new adventure and support him fully. I know he will be successful wherever he goes."

In the interim, head women's soccer coach and assistant men's soccer coach Jordan Hillmick will assume the role as interim head men's soccer coach while a search for a new head coach is underway.
