PENDLETON, Ore. - Wednesday night presented us with a top 5 battle in Pendleton, OR as the Timberwolves hosted the Treasure Valley Chuckars for the 5th annual Blue Out event in front of a near capacity crowd. BMCC and TVCC battled back and forth most of the night but it was Josie Wilson with 23 points and 7 rebounds who willed the Wolves to the win with a last second layup and free throw to secure the win, 66-63.

From the start of the game the energy was electric as the Wolves continue to roll to punching their ticket to the NWAC post season for the first time in eight years. They would have to go through the Treasure Valley Chuckars who sat in the 3rd seed for the east division. A back and forth contest through much of the 1st quarter with the teams trading shot for shot with the Wolves taking the lead at the end of the quarter 16-14. At the 7:58 mark of the 2nd quarter the Wolves finally broke through with a made jump shot by Avery Beatty (9 pts, 8 reb, 3 stl) to start the push for the Wolves which was quickly followed by a made 3-point shot by Beatty to push the lead to five. It would take two minutes for the next basket to be made as the teams played strong defenses on both ends before Beatty would score again, followed by Kyella Picard to bring the lead to 27-18. The final points of the half would be made by Leanna Lepe who made both free throws to take the Wolves to the locker room with the largest lead of the night 33-23.

At the start of the 3rd quarter the Chuckars would then go to work to close the gap with Sophia Legate (15 pts, 5 reb, 2 stl) making two 3-point shots to bring TVCC to within four points. Josie Wilson would then make a jump shot to bring it back to 39-32 with 4:28 remaining. TVCC would continue to push with Legate making another 3-point shot to bring TVCC to within two points. Shyann Lamb would then make a 3-pointer of her own to stop the Chuckar momentum as the Wolves would take the lead into the 4th quarter 50-43. TVCC would continue to shoot the lights out from beyond the arc and with 6:17 left in the 4th quarter, Havyn Brown would tie up the game at 54-54. Brown would make another 3-point shot for TVCC to retake the lead 63-60 with 2:22 remaining. Josie Wilson would then go to work getting fouled and making both free throws to bring it to 63-62. Havyn Brown would then turnover the ball to Kyella Picard and the Wolves would work down the floor with under a minute remaining as Wilson would put up a shot, get her own rebound and make the go ahead jump shot to retake the lead for the Wolves 64-63. BMCC would go on to finish the game 66-63 to pick up their 4th win in conference play.

BMCC moves to 8-10 overall and 4-3 in east division play and currently sit in full control of the 4 seed in the east. The women's basketball team will return to the floor Saturday as they take on Saturday February 3rd as they take on Walla Walla at 2pm. The men's basketball team will play at 4pm against the Warriors.
