Bio

Coach Baxter enters his eighth season with the Timberwolves, and third year at the helm of the program. 

 

Prior to coming to Blue Mountain CC, Coach Baxter was an experienced local high school head coach at Pilot Rock High School, where he coached  the 2002 – 2007 Rocket Girl’s to a record 67-57 and the 2007–2013 Rocket Boy’s to a record of 103-49. his overall record is at 170-106.

Led the Rocket boy’s to the district tournament all 6 years, they were in the championship 3 of those years. They advanced to the Boy’s 2A State Tournament 4 years and 2 years to the final site in Pendleton.

In 2013, they finished 3rd  in the state never playing a true home game in their gym due to structural issues, 81 days traveling on a bus between practices and games.

  • 2013 2A Boy’s State Tournament -- 3rd place finish
  • 3 – 20+ win seasons, 2 of them back to back
  • Blue Mountain Conference boy’s regular season and District Champions-2009
  • Blue Mountain Conference Boys Coach of the Year 2009
  • 6 1st team all-league player
  • 1 Blue Mountain Conference Boy's Basketball Player of the Year
  • 4 2A Boy’s All-State Players
  • 5 players have gone on to play in the OACA All-Star Series

 

 

Doug also was an Assistant Football Coach at Pilot Rock under Head Coach Troy Jerome from 2008 - 2012.

Coach Baxter works for the US Forest Service, as a Fire Management Officer on the Heppner Ranger District. He is married to Lea Baxter.

 

Coach Baxter is most looking forward to coaching at BMCC to help establish a competitive program and lead a group of young men into the future.
