Bio

In July of 2022, Derek Bettinson became the head coach of the BMCC Timberwolves. 

One of the best hitters in Blue Mountain history, Derek Bettinson, was the assistant coach for the Timberwolves from 2016-2022.  Coach Bettinson works primarily with the hitters for Timberwolves.  Bettinson comes from Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho, where he was an assistant coach for the previous three seasons. 

Bettinson played his collegiate ball at Blue Mountain and Northwest Nazarene.  Bettinson played for the Wolves on the on the 2008 and 2009 squads.  He received first team NWAACC east region honors and second team all NWAAC 1st baseman award honors.  Bettinson was also selected as the team MVP and holds several BMCC wood bat school batting records.  Bettinson then matriculated to Northwest Nazarene, where he earned 1st team and 2nd team all GNAC honors in his two seasons with the Crusaders. 

After finishing his collegiate career, Bettinson continued his baseball career in Europe.  From 2013-2015 Betting played for the Stock City Cubs in Stockerau, Austira, where he won a batting title.
