Bio

Brad Baker enters his eighth season as head coach for the Timberwolves.  The Wolves have improved their league winning percentage every year since taking over the program in 2014 and look to have another improved team for 2021 season.

In 2019, Coach Baker and the Timberwolves earned 22 wins which was the 2nd most wins earned in BMCC Baseball history.

Since taking over for Blue Mountain in 2014 the Timberwolves have improved their NWAC East win total every season. The 2018 squad captured a 20 win season.  The 2017 Wolves had several noteworthy accomplishments as the team recorded the third most wins in program history and the second most since 1982.  Nine sophomores from the 2017 squad are currently on four year rosters throughout the country.  Currently there are 15 former Wolves on four year rosters.  The 2016 Timberwolves had several accomplishments.  BMCC led the NWAC East in conference homeruns and placed second in doubles.  The 2106 Timberwolves also finished fifth in the NWAC in fielding percentage. The 2015 Timberwolves had several accomplishments of their own, The 2015 Timberwolves improved their run differential over the last three seasons more than anyone in NWAC during this stretch.  The 2015 pitching staff also lowered their ERA over three runs per game last season to 3.54, which was 12th best in the NWAC.  This was the largest turnaround in the NWAC.  The 2015 Timberwolves squad had 10 players move onto to play baseball at four year institutions. Last season, Blue Mountain Community College was awarded the NWAC President’s Cup for the small school division.  The Presidents Cups are awarded to institutions based on the academic performance of their athletic teams. Points are awarded for student-athletes who complete 36 credits, 72 credits, complete a certificate, and degree completion. Amount of points awarded are determined by student-athletes GPA.

Baker was previously the pitching coach at Pacific University for seven seasons.  During his tenure, the Pacific Boxers had some of the top pitching staffs in the Northwest Conference.  In 2012 Pacific won their first league title since 1979, as the pitching staff led the league in ERA and several other categories.

In 2013 and 2014 Coach Baker has also been the pitching coach for the Mat-Su Miners of the Alaska Baseball League while coaching some of the best collegiate prospects in the country.  In both seasons the Miners have finished second in the ABL and the 2014 Miners were second in the league in ERA.  Seventeen players from those two teams have been selected in the Major League Baseball draft, including the second overall pick in the 2016 MLB draft Nick Senzel (INF, Cin.) and 2015 first rounder Christin Stewart (OF-Det), second rounder Cody Ponce (P-Mil), and third rounder Drew Smith (P-Det.).

Baker played his collegiate ball at Pacific University and Blue Mountain Community College where he was a former pitcher for BMCC.  In 2004, Baker set a BMCC record for the lowest ERA for a relief pitcher at 1.05, a record that still stands today.  Baker earned his master’s degree in Teaching in 2007 and his bachelor's degree in History in 2006, both from Pacific University.  Baker also earned his AAOT from Blue Mountain Community College in 2004.  Baker currently serves as the assistant athletic director for Blue Mountain Community College and served as the Success Coach for student athletes. Brad is married to his wife Kristin.
