Jessica Humphreys Returns to BMCC Volleyball

PENDLETON, Ore. - As the 2023 volleyball season approaches, the Timberwolves were in search for a new coach to take over and they didn't have to wait long to find a familiar face. Jessica Humphreys returns to lead the Timberwolves volleyball team as they begin the new season this week. Jessica returns with a wealth of knowledge and experience as she was with the program during 5 of its championship titles while helping the program grow to become a thriving team, setting NWAC records and putting the volleyball program on the map. While becoming a mentor for young student-athletes navigating the challenges of leaving home and promoting academic, mental and spiritual growth, Jessica remains an instructor at BMCC within the nursing department as well. Coach Humphreys was last with the program in 2018-2019 and during her last season with the Wolves, took them to the NWAC playoffs as they finished 25-11 overall, and 11-5 in the east division and made a run at a sixth title.

"We are thrilled to have Jessica returning to lead the Timberwolves volleyball team" said athletic director Brad Baker. "Jessica is a great resource for students and knows how to coach successful student-athletes. We are thrilled to have her back coaching."

Returning to the Timberwolves as well is her assistant coach from the 2018-19 season, Kendra Wicklander (Dehoog), Kendra is an alumni of the BMCC volleyball team who moved on to play for Eastern Oregon University. Kendra helped lead the team to a national championship run during her time there. Kendra also recently married BMCC baseball assistant coach Tyson Wicklander.

The BMCC volleyball team kicks off their season at home on August 22nd in a scrimmage against Walla Walla University.
