BMCC Baseball Garners 5 All-Conference Awards

 

PENDLETON, Ore. – BMCC Baseball had quite the season and had goals set high to make a name for itself in the east and in Coach Bakers 6th year at the helm they did just that. Earning 22 wins for the 2nd most all time in program history is no small task but one this team was more than ready to accomplish. Coach Baker had this to say about this past season, “It was a huge accomplishment for this team to win 22 games, which is the second most in program history.  Their hard work in the classroom, weight room, and on the field allowed BMCC Baseball take another big step in a positive direction.”  Not only did they earn 22 wins in the 2018-2019 season but 5 BMCC baseball players also earned All-Conference Accolades. “It was a great honor for our team to have five student-athletes selected to the NWAC East All-Region team.  Five players are the most the program has had selected in quite some time.  It is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and improvement, as well as showing the quality of the individuals we are bringing to Blue Mountain.” said Baker.

 

All-Conference Recipients

Micah O’Donnell earned 2nd team all-conference outfielder. Playing in 36 games with 48 total chances and catching or putting out 45 opponents. Micah also had 123 at bats (AB) scoring 21 runs off 41 hits, with 7 doubles. Micah had a field percentage of .938.

 

Gage Young earned 2nd team all-conference catcher. Gage played in 39 games having 276 total chances and picking off or putting out 250 opponents. Contributing 151 at bats with 27 runs scored. Gage had a fielding percentage of .989.

 

Alex Salsman was named 2nd team utility. Alex led the team in home runs with 6 while contributing 136 at bats with 34 runs scored. Alex had 298 total chances and picked off or put out 270 opponents. Alex had one of the highest fielding percentages with .990.

 

Dylan Grogan earned 2nd team all-conference pitcher. Dylan had 61.2 innings pitched with 10 starts on the mound. Winning 6 of the games he pitched in with 1 complete game. Dylan also had 84 strike outs which was the 3rd most in the NWAC.

 

Carsten Manderbach was selected as 2nd team infield as well as took home the gold glove shortstop award. Carsten put out or picked off 71 total opponents in 44 games with 128 assists. Carsten finished the season with a .926 fielding percentage as well. While hitting, Carsten had 178 at bats, scoring 38 runs with 11 doubles and an on base percentage of .399.

 

BMCC Baseball concluded their season on May 11th beating Wenatchee Valley 6-4 and 4-3 on their sophomore day. BMCC athletics will finalize the year with an end of the year celebration in the McCrae Activity Center on May 28th at 4pm.
