PENDLETON, Ore. - The final week of the regular season is here as the BMCC baseball and softball team look to wrap up their 2024 campaigns. Below, we break down the weekly preview.

 

Baseball

 

Your Timberwolves are in for an exciting series as they take on the Columbia Basin Hawks in a must-win series for their playoff implications. Your Timberwolves currently find themselves once again in a three-way tie for first place in the NWAC East Region, tied with Spokane and Columbia Basin, with the regular season wrapping up this weekend.

 

Columbia Basin got a 4 game series sweep against Wenatchee Valley, where they were all highly competitive, with Game 2 even going to 12.

 

Blue Mountain got the series split last weekend against Walla Walla, after dropping the first two games in Walla Walla.

 

Davis Mauzy continues his dominance at the plate and on the base paths. He finds himself in the Top 5 in the NWAC in batting average (.353) and sits alone at the top of the NWAC in stolen bases, with 33 stolen bases.

 

The Timberwolves pitching staff is in the Top 15 in the NWAC in ERA (earned runs averaged) with a team ERA of 4.15. They are also in the Top 15 in the NWAC in WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) with a team WHIP of 1.42.

 

All home games can be found on the official BMCC athletics, with the first game set to be played at 1 PM on Wednesday, May 8th!



Softball

 

Your Timberwolves Softball Team has a weekend full of anticipation and excitement as they take on Walla Walla on Friday, May 10th at home for the last home games of the year with the doubleheader scheduled for 2 PM PST with the second game following 30 minutes after the last out.

 

Coming off a split against Yakima Valley, BMCC took the final game of the series win over the Yaks with a 8-7 walk off win in the 8th inning. The Timberwolves hitters are led by sophomores Avyree Miethe (.460, 11 2B, 7 HR) and Gracie Hamilton (.429, 13 2B, 8 HR) with the team average is a .335. Sophomores will be recognized at the beginning of the Friday games.

 

They then make the trek north to play Columbia Basin in the regular season finale on Saturday, May 11th. The doubleheader is scheduled for 12 PM PST with the second game following 30 minutes after the last out.
